Veeam’s Gift to VCPs, vExperts, and VCIs with Quote from @DavidMDavis

by David Davis on December 10, 2010

Today Veeam issued a press release about their vHoliday Gift. In the release, they say that their vHoliday gift is to offer NFR (not for resale) licenses of their most popular products to VMware Certified Professionals (VCP), vExperts, and VMware Certified Instructors (VCI). WOW!

Actually, I knew that this announcement was coming because they asked me to offer a quote for it). I was glad to provide a quote and you’ll see in the PR that I said:

Veeam is continuing its history of innovation by making this offer to VMware professionals,” explained David Davis, vExpert, CCIE, VCP4 and vSphere training author at www.TrainSignal.com. “With the ability to use Veeam Backup & Replication in our home or office labs, instructors, bloggers and certified VMware administrators will be able to not only protect their lab infrastructure, but also gain experience with the leading virtual infrastructure data protection solution.”

These individuals can receive Veeam Backup & Replication™ v5 with vPower™ for non-production use in their home labs. Any vExpert, VCP or VCI can receive a free two-CPU socket software license for evaluation, demonstration and training purposes. The offer also includes the Veeam ONE™ Solution for VMware management with Veeam Monitor™, Veeam Reporter™ and Veeam Business View™.

If you are a VCP, vExpert, or VCI, you can find out how to register for your license keys in the Veeam Holiday Gift PR.

I can tell you that I have already activated my Veeam Backup 5 license, downloaded it, and installed it. From there, I used it to backup the 770GB worth of files on my shared Iomega ix4 to the local drive of my Windows desktop overnight. This way, I am protecting myself from any lost work if the Iomega SAN dies for some reason. I bet that you didn’t know that Veeam Backup can do regular (non-virtual) file backups, did you…? What about backing up the virtual infrastructure, you might ask? Well, I’ll be doing that next and creating some videos on it at the same time so keep an eye out for those.

If you haven’t already, make sure that you checkout my Veeam Backup, Replicator, Monitor, and Reporter training in the Train Signal vSphere Pro Vol 2 video training course.

And, because this is VMware Videos and we really must post a video in each post, here is a video sample from my Veeam training course….

This is an amazing token of goodwill from Veeam. I’ve been saying it for a while now: This organization has it figured out in this department. Veeam penetrated a flourishing 3rd party market with quality products, successful marketing, and unparalleled community activity. That’s a winning strategy.
