At VMworld Europe 2010, we did something different from the typical Best of VMworld awards for products in San Francisco. In Europe, we did user-based awards for the best virtualization products in a number of different categories. I was one of the judges for this competition, put on by TechTarget.com. It was a great way of doing things – awarding users for their use of virtualization. I was lucky enough to be at the awards show in Copenhagen where Mike Laverick (@Mike_Laverick on Twitter and his website RTFM-ed.co.uk) and Jo Maitland of TechTarget announced the winners.
The best of show when to Simon Gallagher of Vinf.net (or @vinf_net on Twitter) for his vTardis (video below).
Winners were:
• Simon Gallagher, vinf.net – Best of Show
• Simon Gallagher, vinf.net – Best Remote Office/Home Office Virtualization Project
• Benny Goedbloed, Belgian Department of Justice – Best Desktop Virtualization Project
• Paul Maddock, Warwickshire College – Best Desktop Virtualization Project Honorable Mention
• Christian Manzia, Bankadati – Best Virtualization and Server Consolidation Project
• Richard Nunan, DNM Technology – Best Private Cloud Computing Project
• Daniel Pfuhl, University Hospital Leipzig – Best Virtualization for Disaster Recovery Project
