vChat – Episode 9 – VMware’s John Arrasjid, VCDX001, Interviewed by David Davis

by David Davis on October 24, 2010

Note: This is a repost of this post but I wanted to make this an official vChat so that it would be published via our iTunes feed.

While at VMworld Europe 2010, I was honored to meet Mr John Arrasjid, VCDX001, and sit down to do a video interview. For those who don’t know, John is a Principal Architect at VMware and is one of those responsible for designing, documenting, and evangelising VMware’s Cloud Computing Architecture. I attended his sold-out session at VMworld 2010, MA7140 – vCloud Architecture Design Strategies and Design Considerations – and learned so much about VMware’s vCloud initiative. John is also heavily involved with the VCDX certification program and sits on the VCDX defense panel. Many don’t know but John is a founding member of the VMware band – Elastic Sky – where he plays guitar. And finally, John is an accomplished author (see Foundations for Cloud Computing with vSphere 4) with a new vCloud book on the way.

In the video interview, we discuss what the VCDX certification is, how it started, and what it takes to get one, from the unique perspective of the first VCDX and an active VCDX defense panelist. As you’ll learn from John, the VCDX is the only certification of its kind as it tests the candidate on business processes, logical design, and physical design of an IT architecture design.

Again, THANK YOU John for agreeing to this interview!

vChat is a regular virtualization video chat covering VMware vSphere, Cloud Computing, Virtualization News, and maybe some geeky humor. Regular contributors are 3 vExperts – Simon Seagrave (TechHead.co.uk), Eric Siebert (vSphere-Land.com), and David Davis (VMwareVideos.com).
