This video covers VMware’s GO – a free product that provides SMBs the ability to download ESXi, install it, configure it, create new VMs, perform P2V, download VMs, and manage ESXi servers and VMs once up and running. Today at VMworld 2009, I was interviewed by John Troyer of VMware (@jtroyer on Twitter). This was a totally live recorded video and was streamed on the Internet.

In this video, we talk about my vSphere training videos, Best of VMworld hardware winners (Cisco UCS and Xsigo IO Virtualization), vCloud Express first experiences, the new VMware Go.

VMworld 2009 – Funny Video Contest!

If you haven’t seen the VMworld 2009 “Run with it” video contest submissions, you need to. Some of these were being shown at VMworld. My personal favorite was by Kenny Coleman (or @the_crooked_toe on Twitter). His video is the last one on the list, “Email is Down”.

I laughed real hard at some of these so I hope that you get a kick out of them too!

Here are VMworld 2009, @jtroyer (John Troyer of VMware) has been doing a lot of awesome video interview in his solutions exchange video booth and I want to share two of the videos that I watched and enjoyed!

In this first video, Doug Hazelman (@VMDoug on Twitter) from Veeam talks about the advantages of the vStorage APIs and @jasonboche‘s vCalendar (not that they would be used together).

In the second video, John talks with Carter Shanklin (@cshanklin) & Hal Rottenberg (@halr9000) talk PowerShell and PowerCLI.

VMworld 2009 – My Schedule

After much work, I think I have a finalized schedule for VMworld 2009!

To all the vendors who contacted me requesting meetings, please forgive me for being unable to meet but after you see my schedule, perhaps you will understand.

I would still like to meet with as many vendors as I can at VMworld. In fact, I would like to do some video interviews with vendors and record them. Still, I don’t think that I have room to schedule any so hopefully we can do some adhoc interviews as I walk around the show floor while doing the SearchServerVirtualization.com Best of VMworld judging.

Taking a cue from Scott Lowe when he published his VMworld schedule, I thought it was a good idea and I will publish mine as well. Without further delay, here is my VMworld 2009 Schedule:

Run the Golden Gate Bridge @ VMworld 2009

I originally participated in a Twitter discussion on running in San Francisco with people like @DuncanYB, @drummonds, @cswolf, @ericsiebert, @jasonboche, @virtualTodd,@vmwarearmy,@virtualkaren, @hawkeyelax, and @sakacc. From that discussion, a wonderful idea was born – to have a VMworld 2009 “Run the Golden Gate Bridge” event (the original page is still located here). That even became larger than I envisioned and VMware has officially taken over the organization and logistics of this event!

I hope that you will join me in running in the inaugural VMworld 2009 Golden Gate Bridge run on August 31 at 6:30 p.m.

The run will start at Crissy Field, you will cross the Golden Gate Bridge while taking in spectacular views of the City by the Bay, Presidio grounds, Marin Headlands, and rush hour commute on the bridge!

You will have the option to run the 5K or join me in the 10K run!

Shuttles will pick up and return you to Moscone Center.

There is a $10 entry fee and that will get you a commemorative t-shirt and all proceeds will benefit Save the Bay (an excellent cause!)
